In January 2019, Laura's daughter Emelia was born with a congenital heart defect called Tetralogy of Fallot. After Emmie's diagnosis and open heart surgery, Laura learned that CHD research is grossly underfunded, even though it is the leading cause of birth defect related deaths. It is also 50 times more likely than childhood cancers. Therefore all money raised by this campaign with be donated to CHD research efforts.
