About this campaign
?Whale? hello there and aloha everyone! Please support the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation - Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary's efforts to protect humpback whales and their habitat in Hawai'i by purchasing a 2019 Sanctuary Ocean Count t-shirt, tank top or sweatshirt. There are a variety of t-shirt styles and multiple colors to choose from!
The Sanctuary Ocean Count is a signature outreach and citizen science project that the Hawaiian Islands Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary hosts annually. Ocean Count serves to promote public awareness about humpback whales, the sanctuary, and shore-based whale watching opportunities in the Hawaiian Islands. The count is conducted three times per year during peak whale season and provides a snapshot of humpback whale sightings from the shoreline. Participants tally humpback whale sightings and document the animals? surface behavior during the survey. The Sanctuary Ocean Count project is highly dependent on and hugely successful due to our enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers!
The 2019 t-shirt design was generously created by Ian Armor. Ian is 16 years old aspiring artist from Columbia, Maryland. Growing up he was always engaged with learning and exploring the ocean. When contacted to create the 2019 t-shirt design for the Sanctuary Ocean Count he was thrilled. The design was inspired and influenced by Polynesian designs and the relationship between Hawai'i and all its marine life, especially with humpback whales.
