The Black Public Defender Association (BPDA) is a Black movement-led organization that supports a national network of skilled Black defenders (trial attorneys, social workers, investigators, civil defense, immigration, family defense, and client advocates) who fight against mass incarceration and other racist carceral systems.

We exist to build the individual and collective power of Black public defenders. To that end, we offer fellowships for young aspiring public defenders, skills-building tools and training, and a membership community for building connections, amplifying our voices, and growing our power as transformational leaders.
