Yazz Atmore is a Denver Scholarship Foundation Alumni and Denver-based mixed media artist and muralist. After graduating from East High School, Yazz then created her own degree as a DSF Scholar at Metropolitan State University. She obtained a BA in Supporting High Risk Youth through the Arts and remained in Denver to perfect her craft.
As a community organizer, creative, and educator, Yazz mentors and creates with young artists while continuing to develop & deepen her own artistry as a collagist, muralist & floral enthusiast. Her art explores and dabbles in the themes of spirituality, ancient and ancestral wisdom, nature & afro-futurism through storytelling, collaging and the building/re-building of worlds.
The artwork "Ancestors Journey" was designed by Yazz exclusively for DSF. It seeks to embody her journey as a DSF Scholar and to represent the healing essence of community, ancestral wisdom, and the power of nature and art. Look closely near the floral elements for references to Yazz?s educational journey.
