Owen Vincent Shuler
My sweet Owen was born on March 7, 2008. He passed all his newborn screenings, and for a short time, everything seemed perfect. But at just 8 weeks old, we noticed he wasn?t moving his arms and legs much. A neurologist confirmed the unimaginable?Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a cruel, genetic disease with no treatment and no cure. We were told he had little chance of seeing his first birthday. He never did. Owen was only 5 months and 9 days old when he left us.
Losing Owen shattered me in a way words can?t fully express. The pain of living without him is something I carry every single day. But as devastating as it was to lose him, the thought of my baby being forgotten is even harder. He was here. He was loved. And he mattered.
Owen?s 17th birthday is approaching, and as always, the emotions are overwhelming. This year, to honor him, the proceeds from his shirts will go to the Stony Point Seals, a local charity that helps families facing medical crises. It feels like the perfect way to celebrate Owen's life while giving back to our incredible community. If you?d like to learn more about Stony Point Seals, please visit www.stonypointseals.com.
One of the most heartwarming things is running into people around town wearing one of Owen?s shirts?it reminds me that he is still remembered, still loved, and still making an impact. Thank you for helping us keep Owen?s memory alive. ?
