??ina Momona (meaning fertile or abundant land in Hawaiian) is a Native Hawaiian 501(c)(3) organization proudly founded by Walter Ritte for the purpose of achieving environmental health and sustainability through restoring social justice and de-occupying Hawaiian lands.
??ina Momona's land base is Keawanui Fishpond and Cultural Learning Site in the Ka?amola land section of Moloka?i. Keawanui is a 55-acre, loko kuap? (closed wall fishpond) on the south shore of the island, where there were once dozens of thriving loko i?a. Our staff work year round to maintain and restore Keawanui through various initiatives. We are also working to restore traditional food systems on our 8 acres of agricultural land, striving to revitalize damaged lands and increase local food production efforts.
One of our main programs is the Aloha ??ina Fellowship, which provides ??ina- and community- based learning opportunities for young leaders to increase their capacity in food production, social justice, historic preservation, and ahupua?a management.
Your purchase from this Bonfire store helps make this work possible. Together, we can restore fragile ecosystems, promote cultural rights and practices, enhance community well-being, and advocate for native rights and social justice. Mahalo for your support!
