About this campaign
MORE THAN A LOGO
The logo consists of an oversized Reno Police star, to clearly establish
operators as members of a law enforcement.
Center of the star is the
sword and shield which has represented the team since its inception in 1972 and still carries the legacy of the teams exceptional courage and professionalism to this
day. The sword represents the teams special weapons capabilities and its
ability to act with lethality against hardened adversaries while the shield
represents the teams commitment to protecting and defending our citizens.
Within the shield sits the Spec. Teams Asterisk, consisting of a double sided
breaching tool, an M700 sniper weapon system, and a rope and carabiner.
The breaching tool represents the Breaching Team. The tool has a halligan head on one side, used for pulling doors open. The other side has a sledge head, used for pushing doors open. The duality of the tool represents the SWAT teams adaptability, push and pull, yin and yang.
The sniper rifle represents the Sniper/Observer Teams. The rifle also symbolizes the SWAT teams ability to act with precision and power.
?The rope runs through a munter hitch on a carabiner, commonly used for rappelling and rescue operations, and represents the High Angle Ropes Rescue Team. The rope also has two
frayed ends which symbolizes the SWAT teams ability to perform hostage rescue operations and free victims from bondage.
From behind the sword and shield are four lightening bolts, representing the SWAT team?s four strike elements: Red Cell, Green Cell, Blue Cell, and Gold Cell. A large ribbon over the top of the logo clearly displays the S.W.A.T. acronym, while a halo around the logo reads "Reno Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics.? The halo is split by two stars which express day and night, and illustrate the teams 24 hour duties.
On the bottom of the sword is a placard which displays the year the team was first established "1972" and below the placard is the team motto, "Not Words, Deeds."
The logo represents the teams professionalism, excellence, and tactical prowess, as it upholds the proud history of the many operators who fought to protect our city since 1972, and represents the many officers who continue to volunteer their lives to defending the citizens of this city.
