September 22, 2024 our lives were forever changed.. Brayden was found to be in diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and was subsequently diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. While both sides of the family are familiar with diabetes, no one we know has type 1 so it was a huge wake up call. We had to quickly adjust to this rollercoaster called T1D. It is full of highs, lows, corrections, needles, doctors, sleepless nights, alarms going off, carb counting, and so so so much more. It truly is a never ending job for us as parents, and a never ending battle for our boy! He has handled it and adjusted with pure grace and while we're so thankful, there isn't a single day we would not take 1,000 needles ourselves just to spare his next one.
This year has been drastically different then last and we?ve seen firsthand what technology and research can do to change the lives of these sugar babies. Having an insulin pump has completely changed our lives and made this last year something to be proud of! None of that would be possible without the research and technology we have today so we are especially thankful this year! We are joining this walk for the second year in a row and I hope and know our village will make it an even bigger success then last year. If you could join us, we would be soo appreciative. We would love nothing more then to have our whole support system join and donate to a cause that hits so close to home for us. If you cannot join, please consider donating on behalf of our team and helping us to reach our goal! We love and appreciate every one of you!
