The Saugerties Lighthouse Conservancy is an independent not-for-profit organization with a passion for architectural preservation and local history. The Conservancy maintains and operates the Lighthouse as a living museum for visitors, offering a glimpse into the lives of those who kept the light since 1869.
One of only a few remaining lighthouses on the Hudson River, the Saugerties Lighthouse continues to guide river traffic today. This year, we welcomed a new light in the tower, replacing the aging model from the 1990s. It is fully powered by the sun and shines brighter than ever! The original sixth-order "beehive" fresnel lens from the 1850s remains on display in our museum, educating visitors about the science of optics, the history of beacons, and the beauty of great design!
Let's work together to keep the beacon burning brightly for generations to come.
