According to the American Childhood Cancer Organization, cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease for children in America. The average age of a child diagnosed with cancer is merely 8 years old. Even more devastating, 1 out of 6 children diagnosed with cancer in America do NOT survive five years. Taking the perspective globally - every 80 seconds, a child is diagnosed with cancer. In low-income counties, children diagnosed with cancer can be up to ten times more likely to die. It is critical that we spread awareness that childhood cancer is present in our communities and has a tremendous effect on families and the children diagnosed.
Our daughter Chloe, at the age of 6 months old, was diagnosed with Stage 4 Neuroblastoma in the High Risk category. A terrible, heart shattering diagnosis with only a 50% chance of survival. After 5 months of treatment, Chloe was deemed to be in remission. It was short lived however as she relapsed within the hardest treatments of her journey. It was at that point, Chloe?s chances of survival diminished significantly. Harsher treatments were given and no change in her disease was seen. It was at that point, we had weeks ? maybe months ? left with our little girl. On the night of October 13th, Chloe passed away with her parents by her side. Chloe endured 10 ? months of treatment before cancer took her life at only 15 ? months old. In her memory, her family worked endlessly to make sure her legacy lasts for generations to come. Honoring Chloe?s story, Chloe?s Cupboard blossomed. It is the mission of Chloe?s Cupboard to provide genuine encouragement to families of and patients with long term illnesses through emotional support and physical resources. One of the ways we do this is to provide snack cabinets to Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children where Chloe received treatment. These snack cabinets are filled with microwavable meals, drinks, and treats and are available 24/7 to children and their families at no cost to them. It is the goal of Chloe's Cupboard to expand its services to more hospitals. Your purchase today helps keep Chloe?s legacy alive and active. More importantly, by wearing your Chloe shirt, you are spreading awareness for Childhood Cancer. We thank you for your support.
