Come & See Farm is an experimental land-based project that builds ecological and community resilience through regenerative land stewardship and cooperative learning. Woven into the woodlands of southwest Michigan, Come & See Farm was established in 2014 by Gail Holman and Melissa Payne as a space for young children to gather and learn to care for the earth and for each other. In 2025, the farm began a new transition, welcoming Taylor Hartson as the new farm manager and adapting the farm's work to meet changing needs. As Come & See grows, our purpose remains the same: to be a place that welcomes everyone to learn from each other and to reconnect with the earth.
By 2028, our goal is to purchase the land we have worked on for the last ten years, which has been in one of our farmer's family for three generations. The land is currently owned by a family member, and the organization has a land contract with a remaining balance of $192,000. Over the next two years, our is hope to raise $100,000 through support from our community to put toward the land contract and secure our access to the land into the future. Once Come & See Farm owns the land, we will begin taking steps toward creating a land commons that ensures the land remains in agricultural use and is financially accessible to young farmers.
All proceeds from our shop will be put toward our land security fundraiser. If we meet our goal, any additional funds will be directed toward either additional payments on the land or general farm operations as needed.
