At Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue, our mission is to provide soft landings and second chances to neglected, abused, abandoned, and at-risk equines. We are committed to creating a place of safety, recovery, and renewal where each horse is treated with dignity, patience, and care.

We intervene in cases of cruelty, starvation, and abandonment, often working with Animal Control in places where no other help is available. Upon intake, each horse receives a thorough veterinary evaluation, proper nutrition, and a customized rehabilitation plan. Our team of staff and volunteers work to restore their physical health and emotional trust in a organic way with the equine's interest prioritized.

We go beyond basic recovery. Our goal is transformation, helping each equine regain strength, confidence, and the ability to thrive. Whether they move on to loving adoptive homes or remain with us as permanent residents, every horse in our care becomes a living testament to recovery.

We also support our broader community through education and outreach. This includes hands-on volunteer opportunities, public training sessions, and assistance to local owners during times of hardship to prevent equine crises before they occur.
