I made this shirt with the head of Hope Service Dogs Inc., Victoria Warfel, to make this shirt! She drew this beautiful photo of a golden retriever wearing Queen Anna's tiara incorporate both my old dream and my new one. Hope Service Dogs is helping me to get a service dog so I can have some of my freedom again. Since developing POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) and Long Covid from having Covid in November of 2020, my health has been declining. It's been a long difficult process of constantly going to doctor's appointments and trying medications. I haven't been reacting well to the meds I've been given and after a lot of research. I decided that getting a service dog would be the best option for me. Not only is it a long term solution for my POTS, but I will be able to be alerted before a dizzy or fainting spell and the dog can respond to it and help me recover quicker. This will make it so I am able to do simple things like shower or walk through a store without needing supervision for my safety.
When I found Hope Service Dogs Inc. I was filled with so much hope for my future, which is something I haven't really had since I've become ill. Victoria knows and understand POTS, as she also deals with it and knows how much it can impact your entire life. She will be able to expose my future service dog to the scent indicators of a POTS flare and teach the dog the best way to handle the situation. She and her team will also work with me and my partner to teach us how to keep my service dog prospect on the path to success, which would greatly improve our lives.
Hope Service Dogs Inc. is wonderful and has been so helpful with this process and we are so grateful.
