Happy 1st Re-Birthday Gianna!

It's hard to believe it has been 1 year since Gianna received the stem cell transplant(s) meant to 'cure' her Acute Myeloid Leukemia. The last year has been a rollercoaster ride of ups and deep downs as she has battled through an alphabet of side-effects from the transplant (VOD, TA-TMA, ARDS, GVHD, etc.).


Nothing with Gianna's journey has been easy, typical, or straightforward. Because of this, she's dubbed herself (with firm agreement from her medical team) the Unicorn. Her self-designed merch reflects her unicorn persona and commemorates the major milestone of her 1st Re-Birthday.


We take it one day at a time, celebrating the ups like starting her Freshman year in-person and seeing her beautiful 'chemo curls' growing, and pushing through the downs like re-starting steroids or needing oxygen with activity. Gianna is a marvel of strength, endurance, and positive mindset as she rides this rollercoaster called Cancer and we couldn't be more proud of her.
