Science Saturday programs began in 2021 as an outdoor post-COVID19 activity to offer our community a STEM based exploration of our Gowanus Canal, a SuperFUNd site currently in the process of cleanup. The most popular aspect of our program was the underwater drone, operated by visitors to offer a unique & video-recorded view of the ecosystem lurking below the surface of the waterway.  

Sadly, after many uses, our original grant-funded drone broke and could not be repaired but with your support, we were able to purchase & deploy a new drone to continue public Science Saturdays in late Spring; through 2022 and beyond! Our new drone will support our public & free educational underwater waterway exploration this Spring at our Science Saturday events.  

Our original campaign was a success, but the designs proved so popular we thought we'd keep them around. Your purchase helps support Gowanus Dredger's work in our Brooklyn community. We look forward to meeting you along the canal and showing you what lurks beneath the surface!
