Hello!

My name is River! I am an almost 30 year old trans man and I am tired of taping my chest. The adhesive sometimes tears my skin, even if I use oil. I put tape on even if I am making a quick run to the grocery store. I am tired of stressing about a surgery that should be accessible to all trans people. I have been denied this surgery by previous insurances due to their policies, and this will be my third attempt. I went to the Crane Center in Austin on February 16th for a consultation and have never been more sure of anything in my life.

As y'all know, insurance can be a pain! I am finally going through with attempting to get top surgery this time WITH OR WITHOUT INSURANCE. As of right now, there is no guarantee that my current work insurance will cover it as in-network/ out-of-network or cover any of it at all. That is why my goal is to raise $7k. This is the majority of the out-of-pocket cost! This amount is in the event that insurance doesn't cover it at all, and because even out-of-network costs are a lot. ***That being said, should we reach the $7K, and insurance DOES decide to cover some of the cost then I will be donating the rest of the funds to the Trans Joy Project with the Pride Community Center of the Brazos Valley to help with buying gender affirming items for the local trans community!!***

I knew I was Trans long before I came out. Once I came out, it was like how could I be anybody else other than me? I've seen people more privileged than myself come out as trans and get top surgery a week later. I have been out for 8 years now and I don't want another year to go by without this surgery.
