Help us raise money to restore Slim Buttes Community Building. Some years ago our community building was vandalized. Help us restore this building as we take steps to create a safe space for our community members to be able to hold events, youth cultural classes, wakes and funerals, and several other community events that we desperately need space for here in our district. We are also seeking funds to help us with a community garden, a place where our members will be able to participate in growing and harvesting their food, as well as taking steps toward Lakota Food Sovereignty, being able to bring home fresh vegetables and fruit to their homes. This garden will also give our youth a chance to learn to cultivate their food and create a garden.
To honor Mother Earth we created an original Red Road Attire design featuring Lakota Floral designs that were typically used in quillwork and the main heading is Mak?? Yu?niha?pi-A?p?tu which is "Earth Day", U??? Mak?? Grandmother Earth and Ma??ksi?a Agl?-W? mean the moon when the ducks/geese return all in the Lakota Language. The design also features 2 meadowlarks, one of the sacred birds that sing the arrival of spring and renewed life on creation.
