There is no path to ending the HIV epidemic in the United States without ensuring adequate, safe housing for all persons living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). Housing remains the greatest unmet need for people living with HIV/AIDS. Approximately 1.2 million people in the U.S. are living with HIV, with an estimated 34% (400,000) of these needing some sort of housing supports, and over 100,000 people living with HIV/AIDS are experiencing homelessness on any given night. According to 2019 CDC Data, 8.4% of PLWHA engaged in medical care were experiencing homelessness, and about 20% of the general HIV population is homeless on any given night.
We hope you will join us in reaching what we believe is the essential goal: Ensure all people living with HIV and all those in the priority prevention population have access to safe and affordable housing and access to comprehensive health care.
