The Humane Society of Polk County is now doing business as Scruffy Tails Humane Society!

Why a new name? Our new name allows us to change what our purpose is in the community and resolve some miscommunication. We don't receive any funding from Polk County - we rely completely on generous donors and supporters to run our organization and help our community animals!

Our Mission: To aid in the reunification and rehoming of cats and dogs, to support the human-animal bond through community education, and to provide safe shelter when needed.

Our Vision: To lead and inspire a community dedicated to saving the lives of pets and supporting the humans who love them.
