Kenny Swan is currently admitted to Tampa General Hospital as he awaits a heart transplant. Kenny is a career firefighter and originally joined the Pompano Beach Highlands Volunteer Fire Association where he served for 4 years. In 1980, he was hired by the Broward County Fire Department following a merger and came in holding the rank of Lieutenant where he was highly respected by his peers. Sadly, he suffered a serious heart attack in 2004 and was forced to retire at the end of that year. Over the years, he suffered three additional heart attacks and has been dealing with heart failure for quite some time which led him to his only option - a heart transplant.
He is supported by his amazing wife Allison in addition to his loving family to include three daughters, five grandchildren and two stepsons. Kenny is quite handy and doesn't hesitate to help out with construction projects to include plumbing, tile work and carpentry. He was a big part of renovating an old fire station into a benevolent hall that is enjoyed by many. Being born in Pennsylvania, he remains an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates.
This ordeal has been quite challenging emotionally and financially . Allison has secured temporary housing close to the hospital to remain at Kenny's side while still maintaining their primary residence in Wellington. Please consider purchasing a KennyStrong tee shirt in order to show your support and love for Kenny and his family. Your kindness and compassion is greatly appreciated.
