At the age of 33, I was diagnosed with ALS. It's a terminal, fast-progressing disease, with no cure today.
I decided to start sharing my story with ALS through social media under the username Limp Broozkit (it made more sense when my symptoms were held at a limp, but now that I'm in a wheelchair, their "Keep rollin rollin" song applies).
With the help of my friends, family, and incredible social media community, I've been able to laugh in the face of ALS.
This year, my friends and family are participating in the Walk to Defeat ALS in DC. It's an event that raises money for the ALS Association, an organization that funds research and patient care.
ALS is a completely devastating disease, taking people in just 2-5 years on average, yet it's wildly underfunded. For this reason, all proceeds of this campaign will go directly to the ALS Association.
Even if you can't participate in the walk, we'd love to see you sporting some Limp Broozkit merch to spread awareness about ALS.
Keep rollin!
