When you live in New Orleans, Mardi Gras is an annual event in which one must participate. The first year was to see what it was all about for myself. The next four years were to take those who had never been and watch their reactions. For the celebration of Mardi Gras this year TIRR Rescue is offering a shirt that exhibits the excitement of Bourbon Street on Fat Tuesday. The look on the dogs faces is self-explanatory to anyone who has been there!

The profits from the sale of these shirts will help with heartworm treatment for Ryder. The extreme cruelty dog we took in a few weeks past. Ryder is now healthy enough to start the treatment process. This is your chance to help a very deserving dog and own a shirt like no other.

Ryder's story... 

When you have worked in rescue for over 25 years it is easy to believe that you have seen the worst there is. I assure you that no matter what you have seen something worse can come along. Ryder is estimated to be under one year of age and has endured more than any dog should endure in a lifetime. He has survived deliberate starvation, a situation that his two companions did not survive. One would think Ryder would be extremely apprehensive of people; this is not the case as he loves personal attention. Cautious at first meeting as all good Ridgebacks should be, he cannot resist to being close to those who have treated him with kindness. Though his size may be diminished from lack of nutrition, his quite wits and survival instinct have been enhanced. He adapts quickly to new environments and makes the best of his surroundings.
