Here at Mary Bridge Children's, we have a wonderful Facility Dog, Olaf, who works with his full-time, professional handler to make a difference for our patients. Our Facility Dog was bred, raised, and trained through Canine Companions in Santa Rosa, California and was provided by Canine Companions free of charge. The working life of the dogs is financially supported by generous donors in our community. Canine Companions trains four different types of certified service dogs, including Facility Dogs. Olaf knows over 40 commands and loves to work!

Olaf is a 7-year-old yellow Labrador Retriever. He joined the Child Life staff in April of 2019. Olaf provides comfort, motivation, and distraction for children and youth in the medical environment. The consistency of his visits provide the opportunity for relationship, giving patients great peace and courage during their painful, long, and/or challenging medical experiences. Siblings, family members, and staff also light up when seeing Olaf and his wagging tail. Olaf?s handler, Kristen, is a Certified Child Life Specialist.
Proceeds benefit the Facility Dog Program at Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma, WA. Thank you for your support!
