Community Cat Network of Cincinnati was established as a 501(c)(3) in 2022 to provide medical aid funding for community cats. Anyone finding a sick or injured cat, whether part of a colony or showing up as an individual, can apply for a grant to cover all veterinary expenses, including for vaccinations and spay/neuter if needed. Most of the cats we help are true outdoor cats and are returned to the place where their feeder has been caring for them once their medical needs have been addressed. This can range from fairly straightforward and common things like upper respiratory infections and minor infections to broken limbs, extensive and painful dental issues or severe eye injuries requiring removal.
Once in a while a cat comes along who has so many issues that it's virtually at death's door, and it becomes a long-term project. And when that cat, who has lived all its life so far fending for itself, unexpectedly turns out during the treatment process to be friendly after all, then all hands come on deck: veterinarians, foster volunteers and, in the case of Crouton, an eventual adopter.
Initially given the name Sir Fluff when he was first taken on as a case, he endured months of intense veterinary care and discomfort with hardly a complaint. Much of that time found him in the medical foster care of a CCN board member and vet tech. When he eventually was healed enough to become adoptable, CCN put the word out to local rescue organizations and adoption centers. But fate had something even better in store for him, when an individual well known to the organization stepped up without hesitation to make Crouton, as she renamed him, a member of the family.
But even "Crouty" is just the poster boy. CCN has helped hundreds of community cats who otherwise would have never received the medical care they needed and deserved. Your purchase will help ensure many more will benefit going forward.
