Endometriosis affects an estimated 1 in 10 girls, women, and those assigned female at birth worldwide, yet it remains shrouded in silence and misunderstanding. When men?partners, brothers, friends, fathers?wear the ?Men for Endo? t-shirt or hoodie, they ignite crucial conversations that challenge the medical misogyny and gaslighting so many endure.
Too often, women with endo are told their excruciating pain is ?just stress? or ?all in their head,? delaying diagnosis and trapping them in a cycle of dismissal. Visible male support helps break down these barriers, giving voice to the full spectrum of symptoms?from relentless fatigue, sciatica and leg pain, to chest pain, shortness of breath, lung collapse in thoracic cases, and even severe complications like kidney damage or loss?that extend far beyond the most commonly discussed symptoms of gastrointestinal distress, debilitating cramps, and infertility.
Male involvement doesn?t just raise awareness; it leverages social influence to demand better care. When men speak up calling out dismissive attitudes in health settings, advocating for proper diagnosis, and pressing insurers to cover gold-standard treatments they shift the narrative. Their visible solidarity accelerates policy change, increases research funding, and sends a powerful message to healthcare providers: endometriosis is not a ?women?s problem,? but a systemic failure that harms families, relationships, and communities.
About Endo Excision for All
Endo Excision for All is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to ensuring every person with endometriosis can access gold-standard excision surgery, regardless of insurance status or financial means. Founded by Nicole Notar, who endured a decade of misdiagnoses before an excision specialist removed 73 endometriosis lesions covering her entire reproductive system and four other organs, our mission is to advocate for policy change to demand comprehensive insurance coverage, educate patients and providers, and fund patient surgeries until the system change happens.
By supporting our ?Men for Endo? fundraiser, you help us dismantle medical bias, expand access to expert treatment, and change the landscape of endometriosis care for good.
