El Pasoan artist and acrivist Babak Tavakoli created this design, "Migration is Sacred", in support of our Fall 2021 virtual gala. Funds raised will benefit Innovation Law Lab.
About Innovation Law Lab:
Innovation Law Lab is a national non-profit that leverages advocacy, technology and law to fight for immigrant and refugee justice. Our focus areas include the California borderlands, Oregon, El Paso, Texas and regions throughout the South. Our collaborative legal representation model and technology transform the way lawyers and advocates scale their work to provide effective support to immigrants in hostile jurisdictions so that every case that should win, does win, every time, everywhere.
About the artist:
Babak Tavakoli is an El Paso based muralist who specializes in detail oriented spray paint murals. His subject matter regularly has a borderland cultural theme, with abstract geometric forms, patterns, and vivid colors throughout. Babak has been anonymously honing his spray paint medium for over a decade. He recently came out of the ?underground? as a legitimate muralist in 2019. Since then he has painted murals for The El Paso Museum of Art, Galleria Lincoln, Chalk the Block, as well as public schools and private businesses. The murals Babak has painted are done with love for his community. He knows how special the border region is and will continue to create public art for their viewing pleasure.
