Lockwood Animal Rescue Center (LARC) offers permanent sanctuary to rescued wolves, wolfdogs, foxes, coyotes, raccoons, skunks, parrots, pigs, horses, and dogs. LARC is also a work therapy program for disabled veterans with war-related trauma. Many of the rescued animals have come from situations of abuse and neglect and suffer from trauma just as do the veterans. We promote inter-species healing through our Wolves and Warriors program and provide an opportunity to heal and grow in this unique, back-to-nature environment. As our veterans work with the similarly traumatized animals they develop unique relationships which prove to be immensely therapeutic for both species. Employment at LARC allows the veterans a transitional period to regain their confidence and learn valuable skills for future permanent employment. LARC also operates our WolfGuard program to protect wolves in the wild.
