The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) was established in 1984 to help find missing children, reduce child sexual exploitation, and prevent child victimization. NCMEC provides services for families, victims, child-serving professionals, schools, law enforcement, private industry, and communities to help prevent abducted, endangered, and sexually exploited children and to deter and combat exploitation. Pursuant to its mission NCMEC serves as a clearinghouse of information relating to missing and exploited children, operates a CyberTipline, provides technical assistance and resources, assists law enforcement in certain cases of international child abduction, and offers extensive training, family support, and outreach programs.
