Winter is here in Southern Africa, and with it comes what we call ?trafficking season??a dangerous time when cases of live pangolin confiscations spike across the region. It?s when traffickers take more risks, and pangolins suffer the most. We have had 4 back to back rescues in June alone with 2 animals needing daily veterinary care for and extended period of time. Our team of 6 is working around the clock to ensure their successful rewilding. We have been able to release 3 animals under close monitoring, but Mag'gau remains in our care.
Caring for Mag?gau means more than just feeding him. Our guardians walk with him many hours of the day to help him forage naturally, monitor his health every hour, and provide ongoing veterinary support. This is exhausting work that requires fuel, equipment, staff time, and constant vigilance.
Because of Mag?gau?s critical condition, our small team is stretched thin. His intensive care means we?ve had far less time to check on our other pangolins?including Madala, Malume, Hope, Phinneas, Captain Jack, Harry, Marlene, and Aurora. Each of them also needs monitoring and support to ensure they thrive after rescue.
Your donation today will help us:
- Cover veterinary bills and supplements for Mag?gau?s fragile health
- Provide fuel and vehicle repairs so our team can safely walk with him each night and still reach other pangolins in care
- Support our pangolin guardians, who are working around the clock to give him a chance
- Free up capacity so that all the rewilded pangolins in our care receive the attention they need as well
Mag?gau?s fight is far from over?but with your support, we can pull him through while making sure none of our other pangolins are left behind.
Please donate and share. Together, we can give Mag?gau a future in the wild, and protect every pangolin depending on us this trafficking season.
