At Paws Place, our mission is life, and it's one life at a time. Since 1999, we have rescued, rehabilitated, and adopted dogs. As a 501C3, non-profit organization we rely completely on the generosity of individuals and businesses in our area who provide us with the much-needed financial support to run our organization.
Paws Place focuses on pulling dogs at risk of euthanasia from crowded county shelters. A significant percentage (approximately 20%) of these dogs are HW+. Given the expenses associated with heartworm disease, we do not shy away from pulling these dogs with the understanding that potential adopters and other rescues often do not have the resources to commit to paying for treatment. We also accept many complex medical cases including dogs that require specialty surgeries (IE: Orthopedic, Ophthalmic, etc) who have a good prognosis with treatment. Many times, these procedures are curative or will improve the quality of the dog's life immeasurably. On average Paws Place incurs costs exceeding $35,000 for specialty surgeries; $10,000 for heartworm treatments; $25,000 for xrays and special tests; and over $12,000 for medications and vaccinations.
Our dogs are sheltered in a spacious, climate-controlled facility featuring 26 indoor/outdoor kennels, 5 quarantine kennels, outdoor playpen and 3+ acres of walkable space. It is through the efforts of our volunteers, staff, and supporters that we continue to exceed our adoption goals each month. It warms our hearts when we hear from families how special their Paws Place dog is and how the dog changed and enriched their lives. Each and every dog at Paws Place has a special story and we are so happy that we are able to make a difference, not just in their lives, but in peoples? as well.
We rely 100% on donations ?whether it?s kennel supplies, dog food, used towels & sheets. Our wish list is updated regularly according to our needs. Monetary donations are used for operating expenses, veterinary expenses, food expenses, utilities, maintenance, and more. This is a great place to put your money because we area 501C 3 nonprofit organization.
We make a difference in more than just the lives of our dogs, we also make a difference in the lives of the families that adopt through us.
