Hey there! Thank you for checking out our Store!
Our newest T-shirt design for St. Patrick's Day was created to raise funds for Brandy's surgery. So far the cost has exceeded $3000. with probable added costs to come. If you would like to help support Brandy please consider buying a shirt or two and share our story with friends. Brandy was surrendered by her owner due to conflicts with another dog in the household. Although we know she had a conflict, she has interacted well with several dogs since arriving at TIRR Rescue. She does gain some tranquility when another strong lead dog is around. Her best friend is a dog much younger and larger. I would say she is almost dependent upon this dog for support. This tells me that she is capable of building a quick & solid bond with any dog that does not try to dominate or intimidate her. We have found that Brandy is a little nervous and thrives on having her human close at hand. She is definitely looking for a family that needs a dog; she is definitely a dog looking for a family.
When she arrived, she had a growth on her hip area that we had checked at her first vet visit. It was determined that it was likely a mast cell tumor and needed to be removed. This week the surgery was done, and we are hoping for a positive pathologist report.
Our July 4th t-shirt was designed in memory of Lodi. It was requested by his family to honor him and raise awareness about the negative effects fireworks can have on our dogs. Lodi was truly an exceptional boy, whose calm and confident demeanor was a lifeline to countless humans, dogs, and even goats. While we miss him tremendously, we carry him in our hearts and will never forget the lessons he taught us. Thanks to TIRR for rescuing him, caring for him, and allowing us to be his forever home.?
Located in Boyd, TIRR Rescue, Texas Independent Rhodesian Ridgeback Rescue (TIRR Rescue), is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care, and rehabilitation of abandoned, neglected, abused, mistreated, nervous, and misunderstood dogs. Why Independent? Roy (TIRR Founder) would rather refuse Breeder Club or Corporate sponsorship than a dog in need. Many rescues carefully pick and choose the dogs that will come into their program. If the dogs are not obviously adoptable, they are left behind. Dogs with fear issues, anxiety, cosmetic challenges, injuries, or even dogs who are simply too old for many rescues to consider will find a home at TIRR Rescue. Inspired by the tenacity of the Ridgeback breed from which we take our name, and one very special Ridgeback around twenty years ago, TIRR Rescue has three main goals. Although large-breed, special-needs dogs; Rhodesian Ridgebacks; and Rhodesian Ridgeback mixes are given primary consideration when accepting dogs into our program, no breed is arbitrarily excluded. TIRR Rescue focuses on taking in large-breed dogs in need of long-term care and rehabilitation, either medically or behaviorally. We take in dogs who have been deemed "unadoptable" and work with them, training them, teaching them to trust again, and making them adoptable. When dogs are unable to overcome their medical or behavioral issues, they are proclaimed ?Sanctuary Dogs? and live out their lives at TIRR Rescue. No dog is ever put down simply because it is inconvenient to keep them around. TIRR Rescue emphasizes the importance of researching the breed one wishes to adopt and the special requirements of large dogs and dogs that have experienced undue stress. As such, we require all applicants to visit the Rescue Ranch to meet the dogs and learn what it will take to welcome a large, high-energy dog into their home.
Roy Hughes, TIRR Rescue?s founder, is available to help with any problems or concerns, offering advice on training or behavior. TIRR Rescue understands the importance of altering companion animals. All dogs who enter into our care are spayed or neutered, unless doing so presents a life-threatening challenge. We also assist others in locating low-cost spay/neuter options.
