Team Trumie 2026 shirts, sweatshirts, and hoodies are now available for order, in a range of sizes and styles.
This year?s design is inspired by a Trumie favorite: his headphones. Whether he?s listening to a favorite song or movie?or simply taking a break from loud noises?his headphones are nearly always at hand (or, ears!).
We started the #TeamTrumie autism awareness, acceptance, and understanding project back in 2018. It?s named after our youngest son, Truman, who was diagnosed with autism just before his second birthday?earlier than is typical?thanks to the perceptive eye of his pediatrician in Windsor. That early diagnosis allowed Truman (and us) to begin learning, communicating, and thriving sooner, with the help of incredible organizations like Windsor School's Early Childhood Program; Keene Perspectives, PLLC; the Special Needs Support Center; Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports; and others.
Truman is nonspeaking, which means he has additional communication challenges?and also additional communication opportunities. One of those is his electronic talker: a tablet-based system with hundreds of words and limitless phrases that he (and we!) continue to learn with the support of his amazing team and resources like Communication First.
Over the years, #TeamTrumie shirts have traveled the globe, appeared in countless social media posts, and?most importantly?started meaningful conversations about Truman, autism, and communication. With each shirt sold, we donate to a disability organization that has supported Truman along the way.
There are other ways to support the #TeamTrumie effort, too. We also share #TeamTrumie postcards, which can be displayed on a door, wall, fridge?anywhere?and photographed or shared on social media. If you?d like a postcard, just let us know.
We look forward to this project every year. It?s a chance for us to brag about Trumie and his extraordinary gifts, to reflect on what autism means for our family, and to connect with so many of you across the globe. (It?s also incredibly moving each time we see a shirt worn or a postcard displayed.)
Shirts and postcards are welcome at autism awareness and acceptance events?walks, school days, community gatherings?and throughout Autism Acceptance Month in April 2026.
Thanks for reading, and thank you for supporting Trumie as he continues to teach us about autism, neurodiversity, and communication.
Please share this link if you think others in your network might be interested in supporting the #TeamTrumie project.
Love,
The Comptons
