About this campaign
Bill Bowerman stated, ?The real purpose of running isn?t to win a race. It it to test the limits of the human heart.? For Team Decker, this statement has a deeper meaning. Yes, we run because of our love and passion towards the sport. We run disney, because who wouldn?t want to run those early morning miles through the most magical place on earth? We run for the health benefits, the endorphins, and maybe even for the figure we are trying to maintain (HAH). But, if anything is truly worth doing, it should be done with all your heart. If there is any one cause is worth doing... it is to give those who are fighting the toughest battles, a chance at life. You see, one passionate heart can brighten the world. It?s like dominoes? a chain reaction that spreads from person to person. One spark produces a blaze, lighting the way for everyone else.
Approximately every 3 minutes, one person in the US is diagnosed with blood cancer. Every 9 minutes, someone in the US dies from blood cancer. Leukemia was the sixth most common cause of cancer deaths in both men and women from 2010-2014. The five year survival rate for acute myeloid Leukemia is the worst of all, being at about 27% overall for children and adolescents younger than 15 years of age. With all the advancements in technology and medicine of today?s society... we can do better than this. We need to do better!
Team Decker is quickly beginning our fourth year of fundraising for Team in Training and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society in support of finding a cure for blood cancers. To date, we have raised over $50,000 dollars and ran many miles for this cause and we are nowhere near done! Please help us to continue to raise awareness and fight for a cure for these blood cancer patients by sporting out #teamdecker shirts!
