MALS - Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrome

~ Compression of the Celiac Artery which is compressed by the median arcuate ligament (a ligament in the diaphragm)

SMAS - Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome

~ Compression of the third portion of the duodenum (part of the small intestine), between the abdomen's aorta and the superior mesenteric artery.

NCS - Renal Nutcracker Syndrome

~ Compression of the left renal (kidney) vein between the aorta and the superior mesenteric artery.

MTS - May-Thurner Syndrome

~ Compression of the left iliac vein by the right iliac artery

PCS - Pelvic Congestion Syndrome

~ Congestion of blood in your pelvic veins. A long term condition due to enlarged veins in the lower abdomen causing blood to back up and leads to the veins becoming congested.

*often caused by Nutcracker syndrome

TOS - Thoracic Outlet Syndrome

~ Compression of the arteries, veins or nerves in the thoracic outlet (in shoulder - either one or both).

*the Thoracic outlet is a narrow passageway between the collarbone and the first rib that leads to the arms
