The process of creating our values unfolded over two years, from 2019 to 2021. It began with personal introspection, as each staff member committed to examining their relationship to the mission of YWCA Madison. Over time, the Change Team, a small group of staff members, guided the organization through reflective exercises and small-group practices that supported individuals in exploring how they could embody YWCA Madison?s mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, dignity, and justice for all.
Staff meetings, retreats, and ongoing dialogue sessions created space for open communication, trust, and collaboration. This process affirmed that building a strong internal community is just as vital as our external work. By supporting one another, staff strengthened their ability to serve the broader Madison community with care, intention, and shared purpose.
These values now anchor our work, shaping our culture and strengthening our impact across YWCA Madison?s programs and partnerships.
