May 3rd is the 5 year anniversary of the one million PIBBLE march on washington dc. Rebecca Corry organized the march by herself from her apartment. Rebecca never marched or knew what it would take to do one and had no funds. It took her an entire year and tireless work every single day. With very few followers and resources at the time, grass roots efforts was what she relied on and it worked. On May 3rd, 2014 an estimated 5000 people marched for our inherently good dogs through the streets of DC and then gathered on the west lawn of the US Capitol to rally as one loud voice. BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) and dogfighting are what Rebecca wanted to shine a light on because abuse and discrimination is wrong. Two legs or four, it is wrong and those extremely serious issues get little to no attention.
The PIBBLE march was one of hardest thing?s Rebecca has ever done but how it turned out is proof it can be done and if a group of people worked together and had some resources, it wouldn?t take as long or be quite as hard. We hope others will rise to the occasion and organize another!
Until then, we will celebrate the historical PIBBLE march by relaunching the tees and hoodies. The garments will be different brands than the originals but will have the original artwork and a couple more options.
Please post and share any and all videos and photos you have of the PIBBLE march and be sure to tag Rebecca and SUFP and we?ll do our best to share them all.
?It was one of the most inspiring and incredible days of my life and I?m so glad I got to share it with so many of you. So much good came from the PIBBLE march and the effects are still happening. All inspired by one inherently good velvet hippo named Angel.? - Rebecca Corry
