This year's festival artwork was created by The name is Hannah K. Alvaro, a 28 year old painter/stained glass artist and the occasional sheep farmer at her mother?s homestead in Central NY - Otter Lake Farm & Fiber. She received her BFA from Alfred University in 2017 then moved to Minneapolis directly after school, working in mural painting and public sculpture. Currently, she is the Lead Painter for the Sterling Renaissance Festival and sells stained glass at the CNY Regional Farmer?s Market. She lives in Syracuse with her adoring partner and her three lovely felines, her hobbies include knitting, gardening, reading and playing the piano.
Within her work she intersect themes of Americana, superstition, and folklore, often commenting on the social structures within American culture as a way to draw out hypocrisies and our inherent need to dichotomize. However, she also just really enjoys painting sheep. They have an ancient aesthetic with big personalities, and in her opinion it's hard not to have a great appreciation for the fiber arts and the enduring symbiotic relationship that humans share with their flock.
