I designed this t-shirt to illustrate just a few of the infinite ways access can look for different disabled folks, and to celebrate disabled folks being out and about in community. Your advocacy for accessible spaces, and support for disabled folks to have the aids and resources they need, is a powerful kind of love.
A little more about our specific fundraiser...
My partner Karin (pronounced like the beginning of "car insurance"!) is a badass. She has an important job as a nurse working in pharmaceutical research, and many active hobbies, including rock climbing, hiking, and handcycling. Speaking of climbing-- she competes nationally in paraclimbing! She also does a lot to seek and build community with other disabled & chronically ill folks, something that I admire a lot.
Her service dog will help her with a variety of tasks that'll make it so much easier to navigate everyday life. Among other things, the dog will be able to help Karin stay mobile in the community, alert her for specific medical conditions and things related to her impaired vision, and be able to ground her in moments when medical PTSD rears its head.
All funds raised from this page will go to covering the many costs associated with the service dog. We've got more info over on our GoFundMe about the specifics, and will post updates there as well. Thank you so much for any support you can give!!
