Join Alaska Tilth in tackling food waste and supporting anti-hunger efforts with our 2026 t-shirt fundraiser! Last year, your support for our "Feeling Saucy" shirts helped fund the purchase of 750 lbs of fresh vegetables for Alaska Tilth?s program at Alaska Pacific University. These vegetables were then donated to the Mat-Su Food Bank, making a direct impact on those in need.
All proceeds from this year's "Lettuce Eat Together" shirts will go towards purchasing market seconds, those imperfect yet entirely edible fruits and vegetables. These will be transformed into nutritious meals by anti-hunger organizations, ensuring that no good food goes to waste and every meal helps those in our community who need it most.
Why Ugly?
Did you know: 30-40% of food produced in the United States goes to waste, often due to the cosmetic imperfections of fruits and vegetables? Produce with scars, blemishes, or odd shapes get frequently discarded despite being perfectly edible. We embracing these so-called "ugly" foods! Let's work together to reduce this form of waste in our food system.
How You Can Help:
- Purchase a Shirt: Support the fight against food waste and help feed our community. Each shirt purchased contributes to this crucial cause.
- Spread the Word: Share our campaign with friends, family, and on social media. The more people who know, the greater the impact!
- Join the Movement: Embrace "ugly" produce in your own life. Buy that weird carrot. Bag up that bruised banana. Take home a scarred turnip. And, inspire others to do the same!
Together, we can change how we view and use food, making a tangible impact on hunger and waste. Thank you for your support in feeding the community while reducing food waste, one shirt at a time!
