Featuring ?ama?u (Sadleria cyatheoides), an endemic Hawaiian fern, this illustration depicts one of the most common and ecologically significant ferns in Hawai?i's rainforests. Noted for its beautiful red fronds, this fern is also used by kapa (barkcloth) makers to create a reddish-brown dye. This design also features an ?ohe k?pala (carved bamboo printing tool) design representing the distinct alternating pinnae of the fern.
A portion of the proceeds from this item during Native Hawaiian Plant Month (April) will be donated towards the ongoing conservation and seed banking efforts at Maui Nui Botanical Gardens.
