The purpose of this campaign is to come together to give-back to the Autistic Community and celebrate differences! By purchasing a shirt to spread awareness and/or giving an added donation, your care and contribution means the world to so many. The proceeds of this specific campaign will go to The Kids & Dreams Foundation. This foundation provides an amazing summer camp that Liliana loves to attend for one weekend each summer the last 3 years. We're so grateful for what this organization has given to our family.
I have been sharing our story about Liliana after her autism diagnosis. We continue to navigate ADHD and anxiety diagnoses, a seizure disorder-currently navigating why/what might be causing the seizures, and a couple new genetic mutations that are new to her genetics. So we are learning more about these and how we can best support her needs. She has been lactose intolerant and we have been challenged with finding dairy free foods for her. Life with Liliana is amazing, unpredictable, and an adventure for sure. We are so incredibly lucky God put her in our lives.
If you have met someone with autism, you have met one person with autism. Each person has their own strengths and challenges. All people deserve respect. But kids with ASD may be teased, bullied, or left out because they're different. Friendships can be difficult with someone with autism. Try to be patient and kind. Remember how hard it might be for the person with ASD to understand how to be a friend. This year, we continue to advocate for celebrating differences in everyone!
My vision 4 years ago was to have an annual local event every April, as this is Autism Awareness month. This was to show love to Liliana and others when they don't get invited to birthday parties, playdates, sleepovers, etc. Three years ago, 50-ish people showed up and walked about a mile, with Liliana in the lead. Some friends, some family, some coworkers of mine, some teachers from Liliana's school, and some Messiah family members. 2023 was quite busy and challenging for us. It didn?t work in our schedule to have this. We had a successful walk in 2024 and and even bigger one in 2025! Due to Rylan's baseball schedule this year (2026) and Heath coaching his team, our weekends are very busy. There is no walk this year, but I'm so excited to launch this year's shirt design again!
We're so grateful for the love and support we have received over the years. Nothing has been easy. We're here to advocate for all children and adults. We look forward to another great year and reaching out into our community and beyond!
