For years, parents of autistic children fought to have people be aware of what autism was and what that meant. Very few adults were diagnosed, those who were often did not have access to reliable communication.
As awareness grew, more and more teens and adults were identified and a culture of self-advocacy arose. Awareness was the foundational step, but awareness was only a step in the direction of progress.
As more and more Autistic people had access to reliable communication and were identified, a culture of Autistic advocacy took form. Autistic people pushed for more than just awareness. They asked to be seen and accepted for their authentic selves. Acceptance moves beyond just knowing a person is autistic to embracing their differences and making space for them to be themselves.
This shirt celebrates the autonomy and authentic expression of the autistic neurotype.
100% of profits go to NeuroClastic, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization led by Autistic people.
