That has been my reality living with type 1 diabetes (T1D) for 6 years, and it is why we are walking to bring those numbers down to zero.
My name is Whitley Andrews, and I was diagnosed with T1D on May 1, 2020. T1D is an autoimmune condition that strikes suddenly and requires constant, around-the-clock management?balancing insulin with every bite of food and every daily activity, with zero days off.
As a Breakthrough T1D Youth Ambassador and author of the children's book Brave Birdie's Big Round, I've dedicated myself to advocating for our community and helping newly diagnosed kids navigate this disease with courage.
To mark my 6th year living with T1D, my walk team?Brave Birdie's Brigade?is on a mission to raise $6,000 for the upcoming Breakthrough T1D Walk. Every dollar directly funds life-changing research, cutting-edge therapies, and advocacy for affordable care.
