The California Science and Engineering Fair is an annual event in which about 1000 middle and high school students who have received top honors at local, regional or county science fairs throughout California compete for top awards at the state level. Students present original research projects in about 40 categories that are evaluated by about 300 judges who hold top academic degrees. The Science Fair?s mission is to encourage more students to learn how research and development in science and engineering is achieved by doing their own science fair projects and to recognize them and their mentors for their efforts. The Science Fair encourages pre-college students to undertake original research and pursue future careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
