The library-based kitten adoption center began as a temporary partnership between the Public Library of Steubenville and Jefferson County (PLSJ) and the Humane Society of Jefferson County. It was so popular with both patrons and librarians that it became a permanent fixture in the children's department at the Schiappa branch. Recently, the center marked its 100th adoption and the Friends of PLSJ want to celebrate with a custom design t-shirt featuring the (shelter) names of all 100 kittens. All proceeds benefit the Friends of PLSJ and all PLSJ library-based animals, including Mocha at Latte (Main branch guinea pigs), Nancy and Drew (Schiappa branch turtles) and future adoptable kittens!
