Founded in 2023, the Cercador Prize highlights the intersection between the bookselling trade and the labor of literary translation. Booksellers act as a bridge between readers and the market of literature, much as translators make world literature accessible to English-language readers. The Cercador Prize celebrates the diversity of international literature and unique skillsets of translators as talent scouts, cross-cultural conduits, and artful curators. Beyond seeking out the best books published each year into English-language translation, the Cercador Prize serves as an act of collective curation across disciplines, featuring booksellers with a variety of perspectives and resources.
