...we relocated our sanctuary to a beautiful forested property. Founded in 2016, we quickly faced the reality that our property was too small and didn't serve the needs of our residents. Though pigs are considered farmed animals, farms aren't suited to them at all! Pigs are forest dwelling creatures, all descendents of their wild counterparts, with sensitive skin and rich interests. The forest is where they belong.
On October 1, 2021, the enchanted pig forest was born - land so beautiful but made truly magical by the presence and joy of our residents. Long forest walks, cozy naps, filtered light through rustling oak leaves, this is a forest forever dedicated to our residents and the pigs who will never know such joy.
Welcome to the Enchanted Pig Forest, a place where you can truly see pigs differently.

Pixie was born destined to become someone's food. She found herself in an FFA program (Future Farmers of America), a program in which students raise and befriend farmed animals, help grow them to market weight, take them to performative livestock shows, only to finally sell them to slaughter. Many students don't understand the consequences of the program, and most don't know how emotionally traumatic the experience will be when faced with the reality of betraying their friend.
Unlike most pigs, Pixie hit the jackpot. Her student and best friend decided to attempt the impossible - bravely defy the program and risk failure from her class to find a safe home for Pixie. The day before she was schedule for slaughter, Pixie came to CTPR. She was about 9 months old, endlessly curious, cuddly, and grateful for all the love of her huge family here at the sanctuary. She slowly integrated with the other residents of Beautyberry Borough, one of our 7 pig neighborhoods, this one named for the native leafy plant above that boasts bright magenta berries in the late summer.
Pixie is so proud of her home and rich life she lives. She's become best friends with Molly (below) and Dahlia, who look just like her and no doubt resemble her biological mother and siblings. Her amazing student remains a key part of her life and visits her as often as she can. Pixie has become a favorite resident among visitors and volunteers because of her outgoing personality, infectious energy, love of snuggling, silliness, and inner & outer beauty.
