We are a family of seven: mom plus six kids, most of us with disabilities. Our health care deductible ? that is, our out-of-pocket expense ? for 2023 is $15,000.
Because of my IV immunosuppressive drugs ($6700 each month), one child?s HIV drugs ($3400 a month), another child?s cardiac MRI, another child?s iron IVs, and all of our therapy and psychiatric needs (usually 5 appointments total for the family each week), we?ll hit that $15,000 total by January 13 this year.
Good news? Almost everything will be covered by insurance at no cost to us after that, beyond our monthly premiums which we can afford.
Not so good news? $15,000 is a lot of money, and due to health problems and COVID, I?ve made considerably less money in the past three years than I did in 2019? which was considerably less than we made annually before my husband?s fatal accident that year.
Please, buy a shirt or hoodie, or give to our GoFundMe (link coming)? our health needs are great, but I know we aren?t alone.
