Dean Frederick Coleman was born August 8, 2022 with myelomeningocele, a severe form of spina bifida in which the spinal cord and spinal canal do not close properly in utero. Dean underwent myelomeningocele closure on the evening of his birth at St. Louis Children's Hospital and stayed in their NICU for the first 6 days of his life. Dean has many specialists and care team members who God has carefully and thoughtfully placed in his life. While we have had many moments of sadness, the absolute love, joy, and pride we have for Dean outweighs any hardship. Spina Bifida of Greater St. Louis has served as an incredible resource throughout Dean's life and even prior to his birth.
