This year's Dog of Honor is Martini! This sweet girl entered our shelter in January of 2025. Someone found her under their truck and brought her to us. An owner never came forward but she was now safe in our care. She was visibly underweight with her bones showing and she was limping; she needed our help right away.

Our medical team examined her and put her on a feeding plan to help get her back to a healthy weight before she could undergo surgery. She was put on pain medication to help relieve the pain from her fractured left hind leg, along with anti-anxiety medication to help her decompress. Martini underwent her leg amputation surgery on February 3 and then went into a very loving foster home to recover.

Martini's foster family fell in love with her and decided to officially adopt her!

Martini's story of once being neglected by humans helps us illustrate the importance of our community outreach and education programs - which is what our Howl-O-Walkoween event raises funds for. It is our goal to use the power of education to help put an end to animal cruelty and neglect.

By purchasing this shirt design, you are helping raise important funds for future programming! You can learn more about our "why" and the event on our website: https://www.cityoffortwayne.in.gov/173/Howl-O-Walkoween
